This
chapbook is a collection of two novelettes that my first wife (Kathleen
Sky) and I wrote in the early 1980s: "Painting the Roses Red" and "The
Devil Behind the Leaves." It's set in the same universe Kathleen created
for her Laser Books BIRTHRIGHT and ICE PRISON, but these characters and
stories are joint creations of us both.
The stories were originally published in magazines that had extremely limited circulations, and as a result have remained "undiscovered" for several decades. They concern a family of interstellar swindlers, Chandra and Jad diMedici, and a detective trying to pin them down. His job won't be easy, though, because the diMedicis have very twisted and ingenious imaginations.
The chapbook was published in electronic format by Embiid Press, but is not currently available.
